Census: the population count in Goa, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand

1 December 2026 – 4 January 2027 · Goa, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand

The four states, which hold assembly elections in 2027, count their population earlier than the rest of India: self-enumeration from 16 to 30 November 2026, enumerators’ visits from 1 December 2026 to 4 January 2027, and a reference date of midnight on 5 January 2027. Snow-bound parts of Uttarakhand keep their earlier dates.
